Forest Products Are All Around
When a person is questioned about things in a forest, the first thought that appears is trees. The next things are usually wild animals and beasts, bugs, and lakes. Some people may even think of secret caves. While these are smart replies, the woods is where materials many people use on a daily basis is derived from. Forest products play a large role in present-day life.
Paper and wood are fairly common known uses of trees. Wood is used to build many tangible objects and paper is used for a variety of tasks as well. Without paper and wood the products we are familiar with today may not be in existence. It is easy to take these items for granted as they are in large supply.
The actual list of items derived from forests is very long. Different trees are better suited for certain products. The Paper Birch tree, for example, is good for toys and cooking utensils while the Balsam Fir is better for musical instruments and essential oils.
Businesses view the forest as a natural resource for creating items, sometimes of exceptional quality, that cannot be reproduced exactly the same by man. A good example of this is heavy wood furniture. Man has not yet been able to re-create wood itself in a laboratory. This means manufacturers must turn to the forests to acquire their wood. Furthermore, people have been using wood for thousands of years to meet their daily living needs.
Some of the funner things made from trees include tree houses, swings, dog houses, and rolling pins. There are actually many fun items made from wood when it comes right down to it. Bunk beds are especially fun for children, as are coloring books. Adults are attracted to boat docks and patios which are frequently built from wood.
Some businesses specialize in wood-based items. Such stores are visited by shoppers who want to add unique articles to their homes. They also tend to want to educate and enrich their children’s life’s with items that are reminiscent of a different time. Selling wood-crafted things can be highly profitable to stores that stay a float based on sales.
Even though wood is the standard for a large number of items people use on a daily basis, protests are still voiced against the harvesting of trees. Organized groups make it known cutting down trees causes an imbalance in natural ecology of the general area. Animals and birds are said to be effected. While most people do have a conscious and would not intentionally permanently destroy natural habitat, there are a few people who simply do not care. This is where the argument comes in. Having said this, wood has been used for centuries and trees are still on planet Earth.
Forest products have added an enormous amount of enjoyment, comfort, and convenience to everyday life. Wood and paper products have been used for centuries the world over without causing a tree extinction. It is smart to be respectful of the environment, and to re-plant trees in place of ones that have been harvested. Having said this, businesses still have a right to make a profit from wood-based products. Similarly, people have the right to use paper products and wood items without feeling guilty.
